LAN Explorer - Privacy Policy
LAN Explorer is provided by Primes Lab Inc. (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This policy explains how the app handles your data.
Overview
- The app browses and transfers files on your local network via SMB/CIFS (Samba).
- All operations occur on-device. We do not run a backend server and do not collect or sell personal data.
Data We Access & Process
- Network file data: File names, sizes, and content you open or transfer via your SMB server. Processing happens locally and over your LAN to your SMB server only.
- Credentials you enter: SMB host, username, and password are used strictly to authenticate with your SMB server. They are kept in memory only for the session unless you explicitly save them (if/when such a feature exists).
- App cache: Temporary files may be stored in the app cache to enable viewing/export; they are deleted automatically when no longer needed or when you clear the cache.
- Optional notifications (Android 13+): If granted, used only for playback/transfer controls and status.
Data Sharing
We do not share your data with third parties. Data is exchanged only between your device and your SMB server as required for the features you use.
Analytics & Tracking
We do not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. If we add diagnostics in the future, this policy will be updated and you will be informed in-app.
Permissions
POST_NOTIFICATIONS
(Android 13+): for foreground controls/status (optional).- Storage access via the Android system file picker (SAF) to import/export files at your request.
- Network access to communicate with your SMB server on your LAN.
Security
SMB credentials are sent only to the SMB server you specify. We recommend using strong passwords and restricting share permissions on your server.
Retention
We do not retain personal data. Temporary cache files are removed when no longer needed or when you clear app data/cache.
Children’s Privacy
This app is intended for general use and not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International Transfers
No. We do not transfer your data to our servers; operations are local or within your LAN.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Changes will be posted at this URL, with a new effective date.
